Networking, Eating and Drinking

Lynda Goldman, a great crafter of the written text, sends out a weekly newsletter. This one contained the helpful hint on eating, drinking and networking which she calls the Layering Technique.

It's difficult to eat and drink while networking. If possible, eat before you arrive, or sit down and eat, and then network. But if you are going to eat and drink while networking, use the magic layering technique. The key is to always keep your right hand free to shake hands.

1. Hold your plate in your left hand.

2. Put your wine glass on top, and anchor it with your thumb.

3. Hold a napkin under the plate, and wipe your fingers every time you eat.

Doing Business in Hong Kong

Went to an interesting talk by Mike Rowse, Director General of Invest HK at the Sheraton in Montreal today. He stressed how vibrant HK was and how it is the ideal jumping off point for people wanting to do business in SE Asia and in China. He also stressed that any company ignoring the ever increasing importance of China would do so at their peril.

Anyone wanting to explore the benefits of expanding their business in Hong Kong, and perhaps eventually into China, can get a lot of help and information from Invest HK And of course, GSP insights would be delighted to assist in your Hong Kong venture in any way they can. This is a part of the world we know well and where we have many business contacts.

In other words... to do a feasibility study.
